Apparently, hippie essential oil blend recipes are quite popular these days and one thing I noticed is most of them contain patchouli essential oil.
So if you are looking for patchouli essential oil blends then you will find some here.
(sometimes spelled it petrulli with voice search)
By the way, I would have spelled it Hippy but it’s Hippie.
Why Is Patchouli Essential Oil A Popular Hippie Oil?
Patchouli oil has a strong sweet-spicy musky scent and is popular as a base scent in candles and perfumes.
I typically associate it more with a man’s scent but many women love it, too.
The plant originally gained a reputation as a “hippie oil” due to its widespread use during the peace movement. Interestingly, the urban dictionary says it was often used to cover up the scent of body odor and cannabis use.
Like most essential oils patchouli has some amazing benefits, too. According to Dr. Axe, these benefits include:
- fighting depression
- boosting immune system
- stoping fungal growth
- reducing inflammation
- enhancing mood
- strengthens hair
- fighting infections
- clearing dandruff
- treating skin conditions
- repelling bugs
Note: The blends and recipes I’ve posted here will work with Doterra, Young Living, Simply Earth, Isagenix, or any toxic-free essential oil brand you have on hand.

Hippie Diffuser Blend Recipes
As with all diffuser blends, you may need to experiment to find the right combination of essential oils for you.
My favorite diffuser is this one I got on Amazon about 5 years ago.
I use it almost daily and it still works great.
I purchased this one last year because it was on sale and you can turn the light off.
Tip: Buy extra diffusers because they are always nice to have on hand to give to a sick friend or for a last-minute gift.
