What Is A Nail Buffer Used For?
Nail buffing is simply polishing your nails with a buffer block or nail buffer that’s made of different types of grit.
Buffer blocks are super versatile because they can smooth out ridges, make your nails look shiny and healthy, and even help your polish adhere if you choose to wear polish.
Each side of the buffer block has a different grit for different use.
Some of them have each side numbered making it much easier to see which side is which.

Can Buffing Strengthen Nails?
Yes. Buffing improves blood circulation under the nail bed, boosting nail growth and shine.
However, don’t buff too often or your nails may become brittle.

How To Use A 3-Way Nail Buffer
- First, use the black (the coarsest) side horizontally on your nail bed to refine it and remove ridges.
- Then, use the white side to semi-shine.
- Finally, use the gray side to give a shiny finish.
How Often Should I Buff My Nails?
Buffing is actually mild surface abrasion, so it should not be done very often or too roughly because it could result in thinning or weakening your nails.
With that said, at least once a month is ideal.
What Is The Difference Between A Nail File and a Nail Buffer?
Nail files are used to “sand” down long or broken nails whereas nail buffers are best designed for polishing the surface of your nails and cuticles.
Nail buffers are used over the top of the nail rather than the edges.
Tip: A glass file is the least damaging file to use.
