My secret weapon for staying lean is intermittent fasting. If you are not sure what is it or how it helps, this short article will help you understand it and I will share with you, my favorite support products.
Simply put, intermittent fasting is a way to schedule your meals in a way that lets you make the most of them. It’s great for people who have a tight, busy schedule or do not like to cook.
Intermittent fasting enables you to get lean without going on a crazy diet.
You don’t have to give up on your favorite foods either.
So how does the magic work? Let’s find out!
How Intermittent Fasting Works
To understand intermittent fasting, you first need to understand the two states of your body – the fed and the fasted state.
The fed state is one in which the body is digesting and absorbing food and typically lasts for 3-5 hours. During this state, the body can’t burn any fat because of high insulin levels.
After the body has absorbed the food, it goes into a post-absorptive state which lasts for 8-12 hours after the last meal, and after that, it enters into the fasted state.
Once in the fasted state, it is much easier for the body to burn fat because of low insulin levels.
Because the body needs 12 hours after the last meal to enter into a fasted state intermittent fasting can help you do that.
There are different ways of intermittent fasting with its pros and cons from which you can decide which is the best one for you.
I generally eat in an 8-hour window from 10a-6p most days. This gives my body 16 hours to fast.
Most of this time is overnight so it really isn’t that big of a deal and I break my fast with a protein shake.
Benefits of Intermittent Fasting For Weight Loss
It Simplifies the Day
Depending on how you schedule your eating window, you will find that it will make your day a lot simpler than before. You don’t have to worry about elaborate meals and breakfast. Scheduling your meals also removes any cooking stress. You can easily do this and still feed your family.
Helps You Live Longer and Healthier
Restricting calories is a way to prolong the lifespan and it has helped some cancer patients. Researchers are working on getting the FDA to approve it as an adjunct cancer treatment.
It Is Easier Than Dieting
Most people fail at diets and eventually give up on losing weight. Once you adapt to intermittent fasting, you will find that the concept is simple and easier to apply than a simple diet and an effective strategy to lose weight without starving yourself of your favorite foods.
The Fasting Support Products I Use
I’ve been intermittent fasting for over 4 years. Fasting has enabled me to stay leaner than I was when I was 35 years old and doing hours of cardio.
I’m 50 and I’m not fighting that “over 40 weight gain” because I have this secret weapon of intermittent fasting.
I’ve always enjoyed protein shakes and have used them for years. When I switched over to using Isalean Shakes to break my fast I lost 5lbs the first week because the ingredients are so much better than the previous brands I had been using.
I also discovered that adding Cleanse For Life helps me release toxins on a cellular level. These 2 products plus intermittent fasting have helped me maintain lean muscle and energy.
I consistently weigh less than I did 20 years ago with very little effort. Yes, I do try to exercise (not as much as David, watch his HITT videos here) and I won’t say this is a magical solution but it has solved my problem of consistently thinking about food.
What I Recommend If You Are New To Intermittent Fasting
I recommend starting out with the Isagenix 30 Day Cleansing and Fat Burning System.
Use the program as is.
After the first month, adjust your schedule so that you are fasting every day for 16 hours.
For example, push your breakfast out to about 10 am and stop eating at 6 pm.
Always, break your fast with an Isalean Shake and have the rest of your meals within your 8-hour eating window.
This will give your body a chance to burn off fat and calories. This schedule is especially helpful if you want to break a weight loss plateau.
