Best Essential Oils For Sea Sickness

Much like car and motion sickness feeling queasy on the water is no fun.

In fact, it can make your whole trip miserable if you don’t get a handle on it.

I know many people take Dramamine for seasickness which is really helpful but I always like to use my essential oils when I can.

I don’t plan to go on a cruise any time soon but we do have lakes nearby and there is nothing like renting a boat for the day and enjoying the lake.

If you’re lucky enough to live near the beach you can imagine how the big waves could give you seasickness.

Many oils have been studied for their antispasmodic effects and found to bring relief.

Standouts include ginger, peppermint, cardamom, and lemon.

Remember: You will need to experiment to find what works best for you.

Ginger

Am I the only one who remembers ginger ale when you were sick as a child?

That soothing smell and taste always made me feel better when nauseous.

Ginger essential oil works the same way.

Peppermint

This is the first oil we grab for nausea and it typically works every time.

Science reviews show how inhaling peppermint oil will make you feel better quickly.

I usually always have a bottle of peppermint oil in my purse to freshen my breath but to hand over to my daughter who often gets sick in the car.

She also carries a roller bottle containing a combination of oils in her purse.

Cardamom

Admittedly I have a small unopened bottle of this essential oil and would have never thought about it being good for motion sickness until I saw the recipe video below.

Cardamom soothes stomach pain and helps keep digestion problems in check by helping to reduce nausea and vomiting.

How To Use Your Essential Oils For Sea Sickness

Nose rings are becoming more popular with essential oils because they give you a personal boost of aromatherapy.

Now with everyone wearing facemasks, you can easily wear a nose ring without anyone knowing.

I wear one under my face mask to ease anxiety and boost my immune system and I can see how these could be really helpful for seasickness and motion sickness.
