By applying rose essential oil to a cut, you can dramatically reduce the amount of bleeding quickly.
What’s The Difference Between Rose Otto and Rose Absolute
Pure Rose essential oil is one of the more expensive essential oils and you will often find 2 different types when you start looking for some to purchase.
The different types are Rose Otto or Rose Absolute and they vary in aroma, color, and price.
I’ll attempt to give you a brief explanation but be sure to read more on the website wherever you purchase your Rose Oil.
I’ve found both at Plant Therapy at reasonable prices plus they provide test results to show the purity of their oils.
Rose Absolute
This oil is made with an organic solvent that draws out the aromatic portion of the petals.
The aromatic liquid produced becomes rose absolute.
The process yields more oil there for it is less expensive than Rose Otto.
It tends to be a darker oil and actually the preferred oil to make perfume because of his intense rose aroma.
Uses:
Rose Absolute is known for its calming properties, helping to soothe emotions and bring calm.
It can promote relaxation before sleep when diffused or applied topically diluted in a carrier oil.
It is extremely useful in skin rejuvenation, as rose oil counteracts the visible signs of aging, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and helping smooth skin.
Rose Absolute is also reputed to help with the “power surges” suffered by many women going through the normal change of life.
Note: Rose Absolute is generally safe for kids but please check with the oil company you purchase from.
Rose Otto
It is a hydro distilled oil which means the rose petals were slowing heated in pure water and the resulting oil released is then cooled and collected.
The water that is left is called Rose Hydrosol and also has many uses.
Rose Otto is typically a pale yellow color with a gentle aroma.
It differs from Rose Absolute because of the extraction method and its ability to solidify at 68 degrees F.
You can buy it diluted or undiluted.
Uses:
Its therapeutic properties are used to heal dry & reddened skin, comfort the mind during times of extreme stress & sadness, or used to create perfume.
Only a little is necessary to get its benefits.
Note: Rose Otta is not recommended for kids
What About Rose Hydrosol?
I first heard about Rose hydrosol when Simply Earth had it in their subscription box. Hydrosol is made from the byproduct in the essential oils making process.
When the essential oil is separated from the water, that leftover water is the hydrosol.
It contains the same benefits as the essential oils but in a much less concentrated form. Since it is water-based instead of oil, it’s PERFECT for recipes that involve water!
This budget-friendly mix smells amazing and is very moisturizing.

How To Make Your Own Rose Essential Oil
If buying Rose essential oil isn’t in your budget you can still get the benefits of this oil by making your own.
Of course, this DIY Rose Oil isn’t as powerful as using Rose Absolute or Rose Otto but will work perfectly for perfume or a rosewater body spray.
Aileen at Lavendaire has an easy tutorial for making your own rose oil.
You can then use the oil to make your own rose water body spray.
Directions:
Step 1: Bring a pot of water to a boil, then remove the heat.
Step 2: Prepare 1 cup of organic rose petals (2-3 roses). Shred the rose petals.
Step 3: Pour 1 cup grapeseed oil into a glass jar. (Jojoba or olive oil works too)
Step 4: Swirl the petals into the oil.
Step 5: Cover the jar and place it into the hot water. Warming the oil helps release the scent from the petals.
Step 6: When the water cools, remove the jar.
Step 7: Let the jar sit for 24 hours or longer (for stronger results).
Step 8: (optional): Use a sieve to separate the rose petals from the oil.
Keep this beautifully scented yet powerful essential oil on hand to help treat all types of disorders and to keep your home smelling wonderful.
