An oil I just started learning about is Copaiba.
Have you tried it yet?
This oil is derived from the resin of the copaiba tree. That tree is found in South America and grows up to 100 ft tall!
(if you’re curious it is pronounced co-pie-EE-ba)
The oil is extracted from the tree similar to how you would derive syrup from a maple tree.
It has a very mild sweet aroma and mixes well with other essential oils.
It is heavier than most oils so a little goes a long way.

Where To Buy Your Copaiba Essential Oil
Not all oil brands are created equal so do your due diligence when deciding what brand to use.
The essential oil brands I’m currently using are Simply Earth (use code STACYRUSSELLFREE for a $45 rebate when you order their subscription box)and Plant Therapy.
How To Use Copaiba Essential Oil
You can use Copaiba by itself or blend it with other oils.
Here are the main ways you can use it:
- Massage the oil directly into the affected area
- Diffuse in your favorite cool mist diffuser
- Add a few drops into your palm and inhale or put drops in an inhaler
- In a roller bottle with a carrier oil
- Apply to the soles of your feet
- In your bath
Note: I don’t recommend ingesting Copaiba Oil unless the bottle specifically states it can be used internally.
For example, some of the Doterra or Young Living oils have “food grade” on the label.

We love Copaiba in our house (thank you for the pronunciation tip on it — I’ve been saying it wrong!) 🙂 We use it for bedtime a lot. I love some of the ideas you shared about how to use it for muscle tension and headaches. Great tips! Thanks so much for posting!
Amanda, I wasn’t pronouncing it right either until I looked it up for this article. I’m glad I have this oil now. So many uses for it that I may have to update this post again in the future.
