If you’re planning a trip anytime soon, don’t forget to take your essential oils with you on the road, air, or sea!
You use them at home so you might as well take them with you when you travel.
Here you’ll find recipes for travel anxiety, motion sickness, hand sanitizer, and even sunburn relief.
Best Essential Oils For Travel
Just about any essential oil you use at home will be good for travel.
The key will be to remember to take them with you!
I left mine at home the last time we went to the beach and I missed my lavender!
Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint are some of the most popular essential oils but a blend like Simply Earth’s Defender Blend may come in really handy to boost your immune system and prevent sickness.
Yes, You Can Carry Your Essential Oils On A Plane
According to TSA regulations, you can carry as many 5 or 15ml bottles that will fit in a 1-quart plastic bag.
If you don’t have room to carry them on you can pack your oils in your checked luggage but be sure to pack them in sealed bags with a few paper towels in case they leak.
Also, as a courtesy apply your oils before boarding or use diluted sprays ahead of time if possible.

Essential Oil Travel Tips
Check out some of these ideas to easily use and take your essential oils with you when you travel.
Pocket Roll-On
Fill up blank roller bottles with oil combinations safe for skin to roll on your neck, wrists, and pulse points.
Car Diffuser
If traveling by car take along a car diffuser, add a few drops of oils, and plug into your vehicle’s cigarette light or power receptacle.
Inhaler
Add a few drops of your favorite oils to a blank inhaler that will fit easily into your pocket.
Diffuser Jewelry
Add a few drops to a diffuser necklace or bracelet specially made of leather or lava rocks and inhale when needed.
Diffuser Nose Rings
I know these sound weird but they are silicone nose rings you soak in your oils and then wear on your nose.
Admittedly my girls make fun of me when I wear mine but no one outside the family even knows I’m wearing it.
Except for that one time I forgot to take it out and my friend said “WHAT IS THAT ON YOUR NOSE??!!”🤣
Mini Bottles
The small mini-size bottles are perfect for traveling, especially for shorter trips. Just fill the bottles with your favorite oils and they’ll fit right into your purse without weighing it down.
This special key chain carrying case fits 10 mini bottles and is perfect for on-the-go.
Essential Oil Travel Cases
There are special travel cases made just for taking your oils on trips. You can find some that hold just a few bottles of oils (like this one) or others that hold 124 bottles (like this one).
Essential Oil Precautions
- Not all essential oils are suitable for children, the elderly, or pregnant women. So, be sure to check before you use them.
- Always keep your essential oil bottles stored away from direct sunlight, in a cool, dry area, and ensure bottles are closed tightly.
- You should always test a new essential oil before use placeing it on a small patch of your skin to see how your body reacts.
- In general, essential oils should not be ingested. However, some are available in food-grade quality.
- Don’t use undiluted oils directly on your skin, most essential oils should be used with a carrier oil.
- Pregnant? Speak to your doctor about essential oil use before using it.
- Keep your essential oils out of reach of pets and children.
- Essential oils should not replace treatments that your doctor has prescribed or recommended.
